Dr. Andrew Menger-Ogle is our talented research and evaluation associate here at C H Smith & Associates. Recently his research article “Television advertising of food during children’s programming in Nepal” was published in the scientific journal Nutrition. The study found that 55% of commercials during children’s programming in Nepal focused on food and that 70% of the food advertised had excessive amounts of saturated fat, sugar, and/or sodium. The World Health Organization recommends marketing practices that would decrease children’s exposure to these types of commercials.
